Coral Reef Beach Bar

We are going to Grand Bahama Island for stop on our cruise in March 2012. The Coral Reef Beach bar looks like a good time. Is it a long way from the cruise port and do they charge to go on the beach? Or is there some better to go while there for the day?

20 minutes from the cruise port, but only about a 15-20 minute walk up the beach from the public beach next to Grand Lucayan and Port Lucaya Marketplace where the shuttle drops you off. All beaches on GB are free, just not the lounge chairs which are for guests.

Thanks for your reply. We are looking for a beach day with a bar...Is the Coral Beach Bar the best or we would recomend some place else?

Depends on what you are looking for in a beach day. Could mean different things to different people.

We are looking for a nice beach with food and a bar, preferably close to the cruise port.

If you want to eat lunch with a nice view of the beach and ocean, Banana Bay would be my choice though the food quality is spotty. Coral Reef is good too. For a more beach club ambience, you have Junkanoo Beach Club and Paradise Cove. Berta's Blue Dinghy for a Bahamas-shack personal feel.

Next to Margarita Villa Sandbar in Mather Town, just off Spanish Main (Millionaire's Row). A real Bahamas place - just a run-down shack on the beach with really friendly people that live there as well as serve very good Bahamian food like crack lobster there. Great beach view if you don't mind the lack of luxury.
