Water and Weather Freeport

We plan on visiting Freeport Viva Wyndham resort 16th February for a week. Is the weather normally good then? Also, we love to swim in the ocean - would the water be warm enough? Also would be grateful for any info on this resort - we are taking our 20 year old daughter and her friend so some activities and nightlife would be good - does a young crowd normally go here? Thanks so much for any info you can give me.

Been there several times. Weather should be good, water should be ok to swim.

All ages go there, hard to say any given week. Toddlers to geriatrics. They have a disco, but last time they moved everything to the center bar area, so hard to say. Late night pizza starts at 10pm, which is good. Plenty of things to do including a trapeeze!

It's on a great beach, you can walk miles and not see a soul. There are 3 beach bars out of the property to the right. Free bikes, take a ride to Port Lucaya Marketplace to shop/eat/drink.

Book your dinner reservations (Italian or Asian) as soon as you arrive, otherwise it's the buffet. Italian is better all around.

Things move on island time, if you are friendly, the staff is friendly. It's a 3 star resort, so as long as you know that going there, you'll have a great time. Always something to eat, if you're picky then you may not like it.

Cheap booze, again if you're picky, bring your own bottle, just stop on the way, but tell your taxi before you leave the airport.

Thanks Mike. Great response. We have been to Nassau many times, so we know the 'island' way and yes, you just need to go at island pace. If you don't mind can you tell me which building is further away from the disco and bars? Also, can you book the restaurants more than once? Thanks so much for your response.

Here's a link for a map of the resort. The disco is marked, the BAR is the area where they moved the disco to on our last trip.

We only went for extended weekends, but if you were there for an entire week, I would think you could book them more than once.

The whole island is much more laid back than Nassau, you should enjoy it.

Also, great snorkeling right off the beach so you may want to bring your own mask/snorkel if you are big on it. We also bring our own insulated cups for the bar (Tervis.com) as their cups are very small. We bring ones to tip the maids and bartenders as well as the ala carte wait staff and Shaq at the pizza grill.

Make sure to get the safe, it's a couple bucks per day. You can rent cars onsite for $55 per day and tour the island. Free wifi in the lobby and bar area. There is an onsite store, but it is expensive as in all hotels.

I would avoid the timeshare tour at all costs, they may give you a tshirt and a very small bottle of local rum. Not worth the hassle.
