Resorts World Bimini Superfast Ferry

Has anyone taken this trip? Especially for an overnight trip? I'm wondering if it's do-able for Labor Day weekend, Thursday - Sunday or Monday. How comfortable is the boat for the 2 hour sail? We aren't gamblers so it would just be a cheaper form of transportation for us.

I went on the party cruise on a Friday and they took also forever to disembark in Miami; considering that we never left the boat in Bimini, the number of passengers didn't change and there was no customs to clear. The passengers got anxious and disorganized, we looked like cattle.

Also in the main dance floor they only have 1 cash register for all the tabs, and 1 person processing all the transactions; imagine what happened? The computer crashed, and they could not get you your change back or credit card receipt, so ordering a drink took over 45 min. Also one of our friends got her credit card ran 3 times for the same transaction. I chose not to pay with my credit card, so I went to the ATM in the main casino, which was not working either. They need to get their logistics together.

My coworkers and I took the Bimini Superfast Ferry and I'd never go back under the same conditions. I really think that the clearance through customs and traveling to the island is time consuming. We enjoyed being in the room. We didn't get a chance to go to the casino but someone won $500. Before we knew it, we were there. When we arrived on th island we had to go to customer service for a taxi which came fairly quick. The driver was really nice and we were referred to Sherrie's to eat. It's a small restaurant with good food but it took foreverrrrrr! It was 7 of us so by the time we ate it was time to get on the Tram and board the boat which really sucked. Maybe if the time on the island was longer, I would've enjoyed it more. I didn't see much to do "Downtown" either. We purchased the tickets on Groupon at a discounted rate of $34 which was perfect. If I would've paid $99 I know I would've been livid. It wasn't worth it at all! At least I got the chance to go but never again!

DO NOT PLAN A TRIP IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF TOWN WITH THIS COMPANY - ESPECIALLY MULTI DAY STAYS IN BIMINI! They are cancelling trips and blaming the weather - weeks in advance! Obviously they don't think the boat is full enough on those days- and my vacation was essentially spoiled. If this ferry isn't running, the price to get a small plane goes off the charts... (they know too!)

I decided to treat my sister to a different experience for her birthday, so I booked the Resorts World Bimini Superfast cruise back in mid-October 2013 on a Friday. Some co-workers had gone and given me some tips, so it made our trip that much easier and more enjoyable. We booked online and got a cabin, despite it being a day-cruise. I'll tell you why: it's a perfect place to keep all of your stuff (bag with swimsuits, towels, change of clothes to go out that night, etc...) and get ready before you disembark. The room had 2 beds and 2 overhead beds in case you have 4 people-genuis! Super clean, comfortable, new and the bathroom even had mini soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, etc...the only thing missing was a blow dryer, but no big deal.

We had no problem parking in the covered garage across the street and getting in line. It was all very organized and efficient. Just make sure to bring your passport or drivers license and original birth certificate (only accepted if you are born in the U.S./otherwise, they WILL send you home). We hopped on board and began to indulge in some cocktails and empanadas. The staff was super friendly and helpful, always cleaning, working and making everything pleasant. The cruise did leave later than the 9am departure time, about 45 minutes later, but to be honest, at that point we were enjoying ourselves, catching up on life, so it didn't matter much to us! Once we got going, the cruise was smooth sailing on a beautiful day! We drank, we played slots (we are not gamblers AT ALL) and won ($35-haha!), we chatted, it was awesome! We arrived and saw the most gorgeous water ever! It's important to get in line early to disembark so you can be the first to get onto the island and start enjoying what it has to offer.

They placed us on tenders to take us to the dock, since the actual cruise has to anchor off in the distance. The ride was 30 minutes long and comfortable. The crowd was diverse and pretty easy going until some drunkards got in a fight, which the crew quickly diffused. We couldn't help but laugh at the whole situation! As soon as we arrived, we went straight to the golf cart rentals and rented one for $40. Sounds pricey but it gave us freedom to explore the island on our own terms and driving on the left hand side of the road is a total hoot! We headed directly to CJ's, a small shack on the beach where they have amazing fresh fish, conch, chicken wings, fries, etc..next door they have another shack that sells the most delicious pina coladas ever! We laid out, swam in the incredible aqua water and relaxed. We totally avoided the crowds and tourists who wanted to gamble and sit at the resort pool. This was a million times better! We hung out with the locals who are super cool, hopped back on our golf cart and headed back to the cruise. We spent a total of almost 2 hours on the island. Sounds short, but it was a perfect escape on a Friday afternoon and a great way to see a new town in one day!

Make sure to take the last tender in so you get the most time there on the island. We then returned, went back to our cabin, showered and got ready for our dinner in Miami. We basically had the time of our lives! I highly recommend this cruise. I had no expectations and was really pleasantly surprised. Better yet, I impressed my sister who absolutely loved it, too. I don't know if I would recommend staying a weekend, as there is not much to do on the island. It is extremely small. Perhaps one night is enough, especially if you are not interested in a casino-type environment. Go with an open and relaxed mind and you will enjoy. We hope to go back again soon! Good luck!
