It very well could be. It's the hurricane season. It's not like your going to get one every week, but there's always a chance. If your a gambler, go for it! Cat Island is beautiful as are the people rain or shine. Where are you staying?

Hurricane season runs June through November. That said, you'll have any Caribbean island to yourself. Just you and the locals. Tourist season starts in Nov and goes til April. Any island and any resort will be grateful for your business. Some hotels/resorts close during October, so check with them to be sure.

TamsinPearce:

Late August through October can be a very nice time to be in Cat Island if you want to relax. August is the hottest month so you may want to check out a place with ac (just in the evenings if it does not cool down). You will not need it during the day, but it is nice to have just in case. Most restaurants and many inns are closed in September, but all the grocery stores,liquor/wine stores are open. It is the beginning of the lobster season so they will be plentiful.

Rent a place with bicycles and kayaks included and you will have plenty to do. Check to see if the house has a lending library or just bring your own. The days are warm, the water is a perfect temperature and you have got the beach to yourself.

We will also be going to cat island (only for a week though) in aug/sept. (2010)

We've decided to take the chance hurricane-wise.

I can wait to get there!! :) It looks so beautiful!
