Greenwood Inn Swimming?

Does anyone know what the water temperature is around Greenwood during mid to late April? We want to go when the water is warm enough to snorkel and swim from the Greenwood beach.

Unless you hurry you will miss the late April time frame. We just returned from Greenwood (we have a home in the estates) Wednesday, the water was very calm due to the winds comming off shore. This is not the usual for that side of the island, mostly the winds blow up the surf somewhat. Snorkel is best over at Port Howe behind the old Plantation house, lots of shells.

I did not measure the water temp but it was cool to go in initially but after a brief moment it was most enjoyable. The calendar says 75 for April and 77 for May.

There are lots of snorkel options on Cat, rent a car from Donnie and go to the beach of your choice. One of our guests mentioned that their favorite beaches is McQueens for snorkel. Maybe worth checking out.

Enjoy!

Thank you, Eagleye. I appreciate your response. We're planning our trip for April 2007 and trying to decide which island to go to. The more isolated and remote, the better. Thanks again for your reply.

Dear elm551 Have been to cat Island many times. April may are excellent months, especially after easter/ Spring Break. Always stayed at greenwood. Water temps is moderate, but you might want to take a short sleev neoprene shirt. Snorkeling is excellent right in front of lodge, and Port Howe is 10 minutes by car. You want remote, this is it, and the reason we return 2-3 times per year. CoralDiver1945
