flight/travel information

Looking into booking a trip to the cove. we live in 1nj and normally fly out of Newark, atlantic city or NY. Can anyone tell me the best airline for this trip? Is it a jet from fla (I would imagine no direct flights) or a puddle jumper?. Rent a car or shuttle service to hotel? Need a car or are taxi's available?

Thanks in advance,

Freshie

United from Newark to Fort Lauderdale with a codeshare connection on Silver airways into North Eleuthera (ELH) . It's all booked through United, and is easier than booking separate airlines through Nassau. Probably a little more expensive though. The connection to ELH is not a "jet" nor a puddle jumper, it's about the size of a commuter. Very easy, very comfortable.

Unless you plan on spending your entire stay at the resort, you will need a car. If you take more than three taxi trips anywhere, plus the roundtrips to the airport you'll have spent what you would on a car rental. If money isn't an issue, and you'd prefer not to drive, there are plenty of drivers/taxis who would be more than happy to take you wherever you please, it won't be inexpensive though.

Plus look into the charter planes Sidney has to fly guests to ELH. They do have packages that include your guest room, and flight from ELH.

Sorry for lack of information before - Sidney Torres owner of The Cove. He has been running 3 planes from FLL to ELH for guests staying at The Cove.

I definitely recommend renting a vehicle. We stayed at the Cove at the end of September, and often, the Caribbean side was rough and windy, meaning no snorkelling, kayaking, and on some days, no beach umbrellas. Fortunately, we had a car, and we were able to explore a number of beautiful, calm, deserted beaches elswhere. The carless guests were stuck...

In addition to amazing beaches, there are cool restaurants and bars to visit. Don't get stuck at the resort, you'll miss out!

Another vote for the opinion that I'd think you'll really want to rent a car because you'll want to be exploring the awesome beaches up & down the island - and the island is about 100 miles long.
