What to do with a 4-5 hour layover in Nassau (both ways)

The 5 of us are coming in March and have a 3:45 layover in Nassau before heading to GH. We can probably handle that but coming back our flight arrives in Nassau at 8AM and our flight to Pittsburgh isn't until 12:55. Can we get a cab in Nassau and spend a little more time on the beach there?

We usually go to Compass Point for a meal when we have a few hours. It is only 5 minutes by cab, has a nice outdoor restaurant, you can use the pool and the beach, they will put your luggage in storage, and you don't have to deal with Nassau traffic.

I'll second WD's advice: Compass Point is nearby, good food, a quick cab ride, and they'll call you a cab back to the airport. Sometimes the cabbie who takes you there will offer to come back at a set time to pick you up.

Downtown Nassau is a long, expensive cab ride and you likely wouldn't find a better breakfast or a nicer spot than Compass Point. While it's outdoors, it's covered, so you're not dealing with sun, rain, etc. Great place to while away a layover.

I don't know what the official procedure is or if this is looked upon as a "no no" but now with the new airport you can check your bags and check in for your flight without having to actually go into the departure area. Meaning you can leave the building after checking in. We did this on our trip in November and took a taxi to the Humane Society. Much better than lugging your bags with you or bribing the ticket agent to let you store them behind the counter as we did in the "old" days.

Someone just posted that they checked their bags in with the outgoing flight to home and took a taxi to Cable Beach.

Compass Point, your best option, I also had a 5 hour layover in Nassau last Aug and just grabbed a cab outside and chilled there for 4 hours you can leave your bags behind the desk there , which was really handy

Compass Point is a good choice, but you also have the newly reopened Travelers Restaurant.

Quite nice, across the street from the beach, great views, very relaxing.

You could easily spend a couple of hours here.

It's just a short block away from Compass Point
