Programming the gps

Does anyone have any tips on programming the portable gps for use while in the Exuma Cays? Not sure if it it will work when we get there or if I need to manually program? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

What will you be using it for? Marine navigation? Or just out and about on land?

Unless you purchase expensive Bahamas marine charts, you will find the basic GPS of not much use -- particularly if you are looking for maps on land. Even then, the marine charts forcus on the water, and not the land features.

Without the charts, for aything other than basic waypoints A to B, you will find the GPS more of a liability than help. And unless you have the map set loaded, you will have to manualy enter information.
