Glencoe area or Isle of Mull?

We will be staying in Glencoe for 2 nights towards the end of June. We will arrive about 4:30pm the first day, have the whole next day there and night and then will probably leave about noon to head to edinburgh.

We had thought about doing a day trip to Isle of Mull on our whole day, do you think it's a good idea or would we see more around the Glencoe, Ft. William, Oban area?

We like walking, hiking, scenery, photography etc. We will have our 10 month old with us as well so that may limit us a little.

Thanks for your help.

If the weather's good and you've got one of those backpacks to carry your baby, then I'd have a day walking around Glencoe.

From Glencoe, you can get to Mull within 90 - 105 mins, if you time it right with the ferries at Corran and Lochaline.

It won't leave you with enough time on Mull to drive around the island, but with a 10 month old child you could drive down to Duart Castle, then return to the north of the island to visit the pretty villages of Tobermory & Dervaig as well as squeezing in a visit to the great beach at Calgary.

If time is still on your side, drive down the coast hugging road to Gruline and then cut across to Salen (a lovely little stretch or road bordered by gorse bushes and silver birch). Then return via the Fishnish - Lochaline ferry.

If staying in Glencoe area, you could simply do the Jacobite SteamTrain as a day trip 10:20am to 4pm or take a drive along the A830 to visit some of the great beaches around Morar.

This is really just skimming the surface of all the things that could be recommended in Mull and Glencoe area, but this post would be way too long if we started to list it all.

Given the timescale I would stick to the Glencoe/Fort William area as there are plenty of great walks, stunning scenery etc. etc.

If it's beach weather rather than hillwalking weather (you can always hope....) then I second the idea of a drive to Morar.
