One night in finger lakes..where to stay?

We will be traveling from Cooperstown to Buffalo New York in July. We would like to stay one night along the way. Traveling with 2 teen boys. Can you suggest a nice town or resort between Cooperstown and Buffalo? Thanks!

I would suggest Ithaca, a nice college town with some spectacular gorges in the immediate area, notably Robert Treman State Park, Buttermilk Falls SP, and Taughannock Falls SP. It's about 2.5-3 hours from Cooperstown, and about the same to Niagara Falls.

Have you thought about what route you are taking to get to Buffalo from Copperstown? Knowing this would help give you a more definitive suggestion.

Seneca Falls is nice too. LIttle hotel called The Clarence. You could look it up.

Far more to do with teenage boys in and around Ithaca than in Seneca Falls!

Watkins Glen might be an option for you too - there's a newish hotel right on the waterfront - the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel ( http://www.watkinsglenharborhotel.com/ ) I've stayed there and they do a nice job.

I agree about Watkins Glen as TravellingBri... said. You will need to book early at the harbor they sell quickly in the summer but worth it. Enjoy Watkins Glen and the Lake!
