Which Wineries?

We're planning a short trip to Seneca Falls, and would like to visit some wineries in the Cayuga Lake area. We don't like sweet wines, and we prefer medium to full body reds and dry, mineraly whites. Any suggestions for places to visit?

Don't expect too many full bodied reds from this cold climate region, but there are some good Pinot Noirs and Cab Francs around. Dry, minerally whites - no problem. The number of really good wineries on Cayuga is more limited than Seneca, but for your tastes I would try Hosmer, Sheldrake Point and Thirsty Owl on the west side and Heart and Hands on the east. The latter is off by itself a bit, but probably makes one of the finest Pinot Noirs in the region. Check the websites for details.

Our favorite winery is Swedish Hill winery about 10-15 minutes south of Seneca Falls on Route 414.

I can't say if their wines would suit your tastes, but I expect most would have webpages/email and you could ask their input, either about theirs or others. Their website is swedishhill.com (surprisingly enough). We used to live just down the road. We're in Maine now, but stock up when we're in town.

Yes, Sheldrake Point on Cayuga.

If you are coming on a weekend and can confirm that they are open, Shalestone on Seneca is worth a trip. Also Damiani for dry reds, but that is on Seneca too.
