taupannock or buttermilk falls

We will be staying at hope lake lodge in July. Two years ago we went to Robert Treeman pak and this year would like to see another. We will have an 8 and 10 year old. Which would you recommend. It looks like the buttermilk falls are closer.

Thanks

Buttermilk Falls will be closer, but you could still make a quick trip from there to see Taughannock Falls. The Gorge Trail is just under a mile, along the creek to the base of the falls, or you can just drive up Park Road to the overlook. It's worth the side trip as it's one of the highest waterfalls (215') in the Northeast.

f you're close to Taughannock Falls and haven't seen it, it's worth stopping. If it's not the tallest single drop waterfall in the northeast it's very close. It's certainly high on the list of impressive waterfalls of the northeast.

We were just at Taughannock Falls over the weekend and enjoyed the view and the walk. As an FYI, you can do a good chunk of this "hike" in the water. Make sure your kids have sandals or water shoes on. You imght want to consider bathing suits as well. They will be disappointed if they can't be in the water with everyone else. We walked part of the trail in the water and would have done more, but my husband had sneakers on (he was able to walk in the dry part of the creek bed while I was in the water).
