Hope those in thailand could help to upload updates regarding the situation. This could help travelers and their family members in taking precaution and plan out their itinerary. My prayers goes out to those affected in the evacuation. Hopefully all will be safe and fine.

We're here, and watching the news closely. There are at least a dozen threads about this spread across the various Thailand forums.

Reports say that a large tsunami is unlikely because of the nature of this particular earthquake.

See the latest and constantly updating information at the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System at www.gdacs.org/Earthquakes/report.aspx…

and latest media reports at www.gdacs.org/media.aspx…

These appear to show the alerts are precautionary rather than a prediction of a tsunami actually affecting Andaman Coast. Certianly hope so.
