Krabi honeymoon

I am looking to travel to Krabi over the holidays. Which is the best beach to stay at. I am looking for a luxury resort with beautiful turquoise waters. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am having a very difficult time deciding!

Thanks!!

Hi

I'm with Cass here. What holiday is it your holiday season over America ? Don't for get that TA members are from all over the world. Time of year, different regions different weather in Thailand. For instance krabi (west coast ) from June - October is wet season.

Sorry! I meant the Christmas break and New Years. I've asked numerous people on the travel forum. I really just want an amazing beach location. Turquoise colors. I want luxury but it seems I am only finding those hotels in Phuket and Koh Samui

Thanks for the help

You need to head to the west coast at that time of year (Samui is still tail end of monsoon then and seas can be rough) - everywhere will be super busy then with lots of people around. You could look at the Rayvadee in Railay (15 minutes by long tail from Ao Nang), but the beach does get over run with day trippers during busy times. I'm not sure what luxury hotels (if any) are available on Koh Lanta, but that would be another good place to look at. Koh Racha has stunning waters and The Racha might suit:

Do you think Phuket is bad idea? I'm sure there are some remote hotels.

Phuket is not really for me as it's over touristy and over commercialised and over built in many of the more popular beach areas - maybe you want to have a large variety of restaurants, bars, shops and nightlife though, in which case you will love it. My friend recently stayed further north near the airport and really liked it as it was away from all the crowds etc. You won't get the same experience in Phuket that you would in say Koh Racha.

I definitely don't want that. I would love something more remote but with access to other islands or day excursions. A gorgeous hotel would be nice. That has been my only problem with koh Lanta. Is there anywhere else? I looked into koh lak. There are some beautiful hotels there but is there other things and islands to see around there?

Thank you so so much for all the responses!

I wouldn't class Khao Lak as remote, but it's definitely more low key than Phuket. Personally I would sacrifice the hotel a bit for a better location, just my opinion. Railay Beach will give you the access you seek to other islands as would Ao Nang. Ao Nang isn't the prettiest beach in Krabi and most hotels are not beach front, but there are some decent hotels and Ao Nang is a great base for visiting some of the most spectacular places like Phang Nga Bay and Hong Island.
