Cash is better. You get a better rate on the street Change as you go.. Look for one conected to a bank . phuket gazettee online will tell you best rates.. Every time you withdrawfrom a bank you incure fees.

Snorkling at Pai Plong beach is nothing extra-ordinary. However, out on the islands you have some fantastic snorkling spots, on Koh Gai, Koh Poda or Koh Yawasam. There are no ATM's at Pai Plong and if you exchange at Centara, you'll get a high rate. You have to go to Ao Nang for currency exchange.

Three weeks ago we found the best exchange rate for aussie dollar notes was the one right next to the Boat Co-op Kiosk opposite the beach.

All Thai ATM's charge a 150 baht fee for withdrawals using foreign cards.

WE did exchange $50 at the airport to cover the cost of the taxi and although a bit lower not that much.
