Bangkok to Ao Nang

What is our best way of travelling from Bangkok to Ao Nang? We have tried the mini-vans previously and after an painfully long trip from Koh Chang back to BKK, we wondered what our other options may be.

Hi

The best and easy way is to fly from Bangkok to Krabi.

Great, thought that may be the way, it's worth paying the extra rather than losing a day out of your holiday, when you only have a fortnight.

IMHO yes worth it especially if you only have short time. Thai and Bangkok airways both fly to Krabi. You can check to see if any of air Asia or Nok airs ( both low cost airlines) fly there. If they do it will bring the cost down immensely. If both not fly to krabi then Alternatively you can fly with either Nok and air Asia to Phuket and then get private car transfers to ao nang.

Thai and Bangkok Air are flying from Suvarnabhumi (intl airport BKK) to Krabi and Air Asia from Don Mueang (domestic airport) to Krabi. In total these airlines offer 12 daily flights.

We took the overnight train from Bangkok to Surat Thani then got picked up by transport to Ao Nang. Got to Ao Nang at 11am and saved a nights accomodation.

Train was a great experience, eating in the buffet car was very lively. For breakfast had chicken and rice at a rice shop straight outside the station, driver did say we could go to McDonalds though!

Flew back from Krabi though- great experience but not much cheaper really.
