Cabin in the Okanagan

We're looking at spending a week in early July in the Okanagan with out 2 & 5 year old. Ideally, we'd like a cabin resort, a swimming pool would be wonderful, but beachfront is a must. We've looked at

1. Ponderosa Point - we attended a wedding at this resort and loved it, the $2300.00/wk pricetag is a tad high though

2. Davis Cove - looks lovely, but perhaps a bit secluded with no real resort facilities ( park, pool, etc) but the $1800 weekly rate is much better.

3. Sandy Beach resort - Is all booked up

4. Casa Loma - is also all booked up

We looked at some places in the Shuswap, but nothing really stood out. Does anyone have any recommendations beyond what I've already explored?

Try Safari Beach Resort in Osoyoos. www.safaribeachresort.com. It books up every summer but sometimes there are cancellations and you may get lucky.

Yes, try Safari Beach - always booked but sometimes there are cancellations. And sometimes if you are travelling in June or September something can be available.

Another option in Osoyoos is the Watermark. Great accomodations - brand new. Pool and on the beach. The location is central - so it is convenient but it could be loud.

Another place you could look at is Veranda Beach. It is in Oroville, Washington - just across the border. Friends stayed there and enjoyed it. Even if you aren't on the water the community is on the water so it is a short walk to the beach.

If you loved Ponderosa Point and it fits all your criteria, my suggestion would be to save a bit on something else in your yearly budget and have the summer holiday that memories are made of!

Thanks Dave. We spent 2 hours searching for another option that was a bit more budget friendly, found nothing, and checked back here to see your post. I think you're spot on!

Hi smitten_kitten! Good choice. I grew up in Penticton and as you well know the Ponderosa is a great spot for families. Close enough to town but far enough away to feel like you're away from it all!

Have a nice summer holiday there!
