We stayed last summer at the Occidental Grand Flamenco Xcaret with a 13 year old, and she loved it. The beach is a small lagoon, which I liked but is a disappointment to some. Our daughter loved the many pools and made plenty of friends, played volleyball, did some of the activities, roamed the grounds and went to the (lame) teen nightclub. We felt it was safe for her to be off on her own. The grounds are huge and beautiful, and the hotel has the feel of a small town. Decent food and drinks, nightly entertainment which was better than I expected. Right next to Xcaret Park, you get a free day-long pass which includes the wonderful show at night. We got a good deal booking through Liberty Travel--price things on your own and then see if Liberty will beat that price. If you read the reviews of this hotel it seems that most people love it and some people nitpick. We loved it, and barely left the hotel. It was relaxing and fun. Obviously, these all-inclusives are not the place to go to learn about Mexico and live the simple life. But for a week of hassle-free pleasure at a very reasonable price, this would be hard to beat!
