What is needed to get into Tijuana and back to the states?

I am thinking for going to Tijuana for the weekend and will park on the U.S. side and walk into Tijuana. Do I need a passport to re-enter the U.S.? Or will my CALIF license be enough?

Should have a passport or passport card, there have been reports that some border guards hassle US citizens

with only a drivers license and birth certificate.......

Driver's license is enough. Some people cross with no ID at all. There's a detailed post about this on http://realtijuana.blogspot.com somewhere. The passport requirement is a hoax perpetrated by the DHS, your tax dollars at work.
