Santa Clara Restaurant?

Will be returning this November for our fifth visit. Still haven't had a chance to try this place; but the Pollo al Barro sounds/looks delicious in their ads. I don't see this place listed in the trip advisor restaurants so I'm looking for a review from anyone that has been there lately. Anyone?.........................

Hola.

We can highly recommend Restaurante Santa Clara for GREAT regional food. This place is usually loaded with locals and the prices are inexpensive.

Hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome.

I really like Santa Clara. Their ground chicken stuffed chile rellenos are absolutely wonderful. The place is affordable, authentic and well-run. They're a little tricky to find, but any cab driver should know where they are.

Thanks Matt & Idaho Jones. Are tourists welcome since you mention it's usually loaded with locals and we speak very little spanish, is that a problem at Santa Clara?

All are welcome....just bring a pocket English-Spanish dictionary, and then have some fun.

Was there last year for their chicken baked in clay. Do remember that this dish must be ordered in advance due to the long time that it must be baked. We had someone order ahead of time for us, but others just ordered from the menu when we got there. It was all good and a nice evening, we were the only ones there .

Speaking of a pocket size English / Spanish dictionary....does anybody know which publisher is the best one to purchase?

Teddy,

What do you mean by "had someone order ahead of time" in regards to the chicken dish I want to try?

The chicken is put in a Clay pot (shaped like a chicken )

You will want to stop by the day before and order

And arrange for a time for your meal

They take a while to prepare and cook

Hola.

Santa Clara is in on Calle Mazateco which runs parallel to Chahue Blvd. This area is known as Sector R and it is a small residential about one block north of Blvd Chahue, sort of across from the hospitals.

To get a map, go to Google and try typing-in, “Mazateco, R, Crucecita, México"

Hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome.
