Use pesos. They'll accept US currency, because they want your business, but it will cause them to take the time during the day to go to a bank, wait in line and pay an exchange fee. Would you take pesos at your US business?

We take a debit card that is only tied to our "vacation account" & use our card to get pesos....agree with Idaho this is the best way to go!

Pesos are by far the best way to go when in Huatulco

Lots of ATM's around. Just advise your financial institution the time you will be in Mexico.

Taxi yesterday was either $6 or 60 pesos. Quite a difference by percentage.

Thanks for that easy to envision example. Currency converter says 60 pesos is $4.61 USD, that should make a believer of my DH.

Most will take dollers but at 10 - 1 not the true value of 13 to 1

This is because Dollers are a pain in the neck for locals to exchange into pesos

Please use pesos it will be easier for you and the ones providing service

I suggest that you use the local ATMS to get pesos ( best exchange rate and much easier to use then any bank down here)

Upon airport arrival you can buy a beer for 38 pesos (about $3 at today's exchange either USD or CAD) or $3.50 if you use USD/CAD.

The airport services are higher in prices due to the high cost of rent at the airport

most restaurents in town are 20 pesos for a cold beer
