Just back from Binneguenda resort........trip review!

We were just in Huatulco at Binneguenda from March 5-12.....2nd time to Huatulco, but, first time to Binneguenda. Loved the resort, so close to get to Santa Cruz and about a 25 minute walk to Cruccieta. The staff were super friendly and the resort was modern and very clean.....just totally reno'd in 2010! Food was good, not, great, but, always a good choice. A la carte was Italian and is open Fri and Sat evenings...it was quite tastey! We ate out several times as well as we had friends staying at a bed & breakfast hotel, so we often joined them. We had a great lunch at Casa Major in Cruccieta, the balconey view there of the square was great! We had the best supper at El Rigeletto ( on Ocotilla street in Cruccieta)........tucked away location, but, the best Italian food and service. The portions were huge! Cafe Vienna has changed locations from the last time we were there.....it is now in Tongulunda across from the Barcelo. Manfred and his team there do not disappoint....................it was the best meal ever! Also a balconey location which was sweet too. Word of caution there though, it is a little more expensive ( worth every penny) and he doesn't take credit cards, so must bring cash! There is an ATM across at the Barcelo if you need more $.

We continue to love to spend a full day at La Bocana beach enjoying the scenery, the beach, the fresh seafood and had our first mud-baths this time from the " mud gals" on the beach. Worth every bit of the 100 pesos......................a must to do! Also hired a taxi and went to Puerto Escondido for the day...............surfer beach with huge waves, quaint shops and restaurants and a market. We hired Daniel for the day, he speaks perfect English as spent part of his childhood in the USA...............his cab # is 11781 if you want to hire him anytime. Say hello from us too. Temperatures are guaranteed hot there, and we had temps from 28 to 36 each day................cloudy one day, which was a nice treat! Any questions, just ask and we'll try to answer them for you. Have a great holiday in this safe and very Mexican location! Hasta Manana Huatulco!

Oh, forgot to state.................did the tourist things last time we were there and these are things we would recommend for sure................a bay tour of the 9 bays, snorkelling at La Entrega and San Augustin, the waterfalls tour and just enjoy the beaches!

Great review! We are headed to Huatulco in a couple weeks. There will be 6 of us. Just wondering if you (or anyone else) could recommend a driver with a vehicle large enough for 6. Also what is a fair price to pay to have someone drive us around to see the sights or are prices posted? Are there collectivos in the area?

Never saw any collectivos, but, there are local buses that run between towns for about 4 pesos each. Taxi prices are posted everywhere as well. 25 pesos from Santa Cruz into Cruccieta and 40 pesos from Santa Cruz to Tangolunda area. You could try to ask for Daniel taxi #11781 to see if he could find someone with a van taxi for you. Enjoy your holiday!

Sounds like a great trip! You didn't go into much detail for the hotel. Are you posting a review? Was the room a good size? Bathroom comfortable? Did you have a baloney ? I am looking to this as a cheaper option than Las Brisas from home. I think I'd like Dreams but this is so much cheaper and I don't mind small hotels as long as I don't feel like I have to get away.

Hotel was great, large , modern rooms with marble bathroom, WIFI free in resort and room, small juliet style balconey. We were room 203 which overlooked the pool area. Very nice pool area. Yes, I will review hotel as well. Beach club was in walking distance, but, was small. Never any problems getting loungers at pool or at beach club. Oscar, the main bartender is great. All the staff were very friendly and effecient!

What was the beach club like? Was food and drink available, lots of shade, privacy?

They switched locations while we were there..............located now right beside the little church on the bay of Santa CRuz. Several loungers, tables and chairs, umbrellas and cold pop, beer and rum. No food there, but, located right beside a restauarnt. Only a short walk back to resort to eat anyways if you don't want to buy food there. It was an okay beach club.

Great Review! Quick question: What was the hotel beach club like? We are headed there on March 26th, and would love to know what to expect!

Cheers!

Hi Bryna. We have stayed at Brisas 4 times and love it. but this year we stayed at the Castillo and it was fabulous. We did however take a tour of the Binneguenda and we were thoroughly impress. we will most likely stay there in 2014.

We also Toured the Hotel Santa Cruz, just up the street from Binneguenda and it too has been completely renovated, very impressive. Staff at both hotels were very friendly and helpful.
