Compare - Pochulta & Pluma Hidalgo Market

Hello:

I was reading the other thread about Monday's, I understand both these market events are held on the same day.

Can you compare both locations? Can both locations be visited on the same day. Is one larger than the other? Do they sell the same type of goods? Are there food venders at these locations.

Thanks!

Pochutla is much larger and seems to be the most recommended. Have only been to Pluma on market day once a long time ago. You could do both on the same day but its a lot of driving. If you do go to Pluma take a few minutes to see the "Orchid House" Its a short walk from the town square. No official charge to tour but donations are welcome.

Pedro is correct

The other difference is that Pluma is the experience of the drive and small town built on the spine of the mountain and its scenic views

Pochulta is a town crammed with vendors and people on market day

Most tourists would not care to visit Pochulta except for market day experience

Entirely different

The Monday Pochutla market has everything (and more) and the prices are VERY reasonable. Transportation by local bus or OCC/AU is very inexpensive and takes about 60 minutes each way. We go often.

You guys rock! Will definitely check out Pochulta market. It sounds exactly like the experience I am seeking. Will check out Pluma Hidalgo on another day for the scenic views and coffee plantation. I can't wait!

If you go to Pluma check out Finca Don Gabriel on the link below. Everyone we know that has stayed raves about it.

Tony, if you decide on Pochutla, you can easily

package that trip with a visit to the western beaches ( Puerto Angel, Zipolite, and Muzunte )

Good time to check out these areas, all great places to eat, drink, and hang out on the beach. You wouldn't have to hire a driver for the day, but it makes it easy. One of my best days on any vacation.
