Market shopping/must see's around the Blue Bay Los Angeles

We are headed to Manzanillo Fri Jan 24 2014 staying 2 weeks at the Blue Bay Los Angeles Locos. We realize it is a bit remote and we like that but are also interested in a little sightseeing/market shopping as well as a fishing trip. Any suggestions or ideas would be awesome. Thank you so much...very excited to get there

You can do the fishing trip through Blue Bay, the fishing out in the Tenacatita Bay area is very good or you can book with someone in Barra de Navidad at the fishermen's co-op. I don't have celular numbers for any of the fishermen in the co-op anymore but I do still have numbers for the Mary Chuy Yacht charters (315) 355-5416, cel 315-109-1924 and Rafa and Rogelio both speak enough English to manage. They have a 42' and a 33' cabin cruiser type boat and also pangas, the smaller open boats.

The closest tiangus markets (the street markets) to Blue Bay are in Melaque/Villa Obregon on Wednesdays and in Barra de Navidad on Thursdays.

There are taxis at the resort that will give you a round trip fare, they stay in town and wait for you.

Almost forgot, there used to be a smaller tiangus on Fridays in La Manzanilla which is a little village near to Blue Bay. You can actually walk over to La Manz. It is a bit of a hike but quite walkable, my company used to run mountain bike tours from La Manz to Tenacatita and we went right through the Blue Bay grounds. Perhaps check with the Blue Bay staff to see if the tiangus is still in La Manz on Fridays though. It was quite small compared to the Thursday and Wednesday tiangus in Barra and Melaque/VO. If you do go to La Manz you can check out the crocodiles, though you can see them at Blue Bay too.
