How does tripadvisor rate the hotels?

How do they decide where the hotels place 1,2,3 and so on. I realize it has something to do with the reviews. It seems like they would change more often as the reviews come in. How does it work? Currently El Cid is 1st and PBEB 2nd its been like that for months. What gives ??

I have no idea, but I would not rank El Cid first.

I think they must have some formula for ranking based on feedback.

That may be totally irrational as many of the polls are obviously stuffed and biased.

Perhaps an email to Sra. Mary Monitor might get an answer?

Don't hold your breath there, lol.

Buen viaje.

I agree about El Cid. We stayed there a few years ago. Although it is nice I wouldn't rate it #1 either. I have used this web site for several years and I always take the good reviews with the bad when deciding on where to stay or eat. I guess it is all based on personal taste.
