Will be in Mazatlan for the first time ever and during Carnival.Staying at the El Cid Castilla and wondering how far to where the parade will be .Also are the fireworks visible from where we are staying?

There are two parades. The first is late Sunday afternoon running from Olas Altos up the malecon, and the second Tuesday afternoon going the reverse direction. You could walk south past Valentinos and down the malecon, or catch the Sabalo Centro bus. It will not go down the malecon at parade time, but you can get off anywhere and walk to the ocean wherever. Well worth seeing the parade.

The Saturday evening fireworks are not visible from El Cid, but again if you want to brave the crowds in Olas Altos, take a cab or bus. It will be exciting, and you will have difficulty finding transport back.

The best way to see them is from a boat. From your end of town, the Patricia Belle would be ideal (if there are any seats left at this point) Yates Fiesta is a good second choice.

The differences between the two parades are the Saturday parade is at night, is longer, goes north toward Valentinos. The Tuesday parade is during the day, is shorter, and covers the malecon to Olas Altos.

We certainly enjoy the night parade more. The floats are all lighted and it is just more of a party atmosphere.

As neils said just walk down from Valentino's. Keep in mind that however far you walk down you will walk the same distance back with thousands of people.

There are cerveza stands every 100 feet or so and last year only 10 Pesos.

Where else does a parade have an official 20 minute refresco intermission.

The parade travels down the southbound lane or closest to the ocean.

I know where Valentinos is...so if we go to the parade on Saturday night, where would it start approximately?

Thanks, Jude

The parade starts at the fisherman's monument.

You will have better luck seeing a parade if you go Sunday. Saturday is the ship to shore fireworks battle on Olas Altas.

The parades are on Sunday and Tuesday, not Saturday!

I am probably wrong on detail, but the Sunday parade starts somewhere south of Fisherman's monument, and goes north on the malecon all the way to Valentinos. The Tuesday parade starts somewhere south of Valentinos and goes south right into Olas Altos. Just walk towards the noise!

And I agree with another poster, we enjoyed the Sunday parade after dark much better.
