leaving on Friday

Can hardly wait to exit the snow and head for Mazatlan!

We will be there for the holidays and looking forward to every minute of it.

For any one else going during the Christmas season please note, the Vineyard church is doing a "shoe box" program,[ like we do in Canada] for the needy. What a wonderful thing to do on your vacation...drop off your gift for the needy and give back to this wonderful city!

More info can be found on the church's website. You are actually asked to give shoes and fill the remainder of the box with goodies =)

You can stop by the church and they have tracings of the childrens feet or you can bring shoes with you and they will match up the size. That is what I did when I saw Wal Mart was blowing out shoes and great ones at that, for cheap, cheap, cheap!!

We are also going to participate in the dump feeding tour while on vacation.

So if any one is looking for something humanitarain to do, this tour might be for you.

Have enjoyed all the postings about this city and look forward to posting some of our adventure when we return!

Thanks for the information on the shoe box program. We will be in MZT 16-23DEC and are too planning on doing the dump tour. We are staying at Las Flores. Do you know if that is near the Vineyard church at all?

Los Flores is VERY close to the La Vina church. The gift box is called the "Make a child smile program." It is great to take the gifts to the colonias, but I think the next delivery is in January.

La Vina mission church has a dump tour, which is free. Show up at the big yellow church located on Camaron Sabalo--about 100 meters north of Panama restaurant in the golden Zone at about 9 AM any Tues or Thursday. You will make sandwichs and fill bottles of water with about 20 other tourists. Get on a bus with a volunteer tour guide and go to the city dump hwere you will see "dump scroungers." You will distribute the sandwiches and bottles of water, then visit the area where they live. You will be back at the church by 1 PM. It is a very moving experience and well worth the time--especially if you have kids to take.
