Puerto Vallarta snorkelling

Where is the best snorkelling in Puerto Vallarta?

We are renting equipment, so suggested Dive Shop would also be appreciated.

I don't think you can just rent equipment without booking a tour with the dive shop. Most places do not just rent out the equipment (not like Hawaii does). If you take an actual tour they will furnish the equipment.

Regarding renting - that's becoming clear from research (ie you have to go thru dive shop)

Family of 6. So - will probably purchase 6 - $30 snorkelling kits. We only snorkel when we vacation, so not really worth purchasing more expensive.

And, Canada's great lakes don't have too many tropical fish. :)

Best solution for us is a dive shop. We'll keep looking, or purchase about $180 worth of gear.

For $45 an hour, 3 hour minimum you can take 6 or 7 people on a 30 foot panga with Javy with him providing the equipment. He's in Mismaloya and is really great. You can design your own trip. We've used him many times and have posted before about him: type in the search box:

Nearly every good snorkeling spot requires a boat to get to, so best to go on a snorkeling tour where they provide the equipment.

Best off the shore snorkeling is in front of the Lindo Mar & Concho Chinas hotels. Nice café there so you are welcome to enter via The Hotels elevators. I've been doing this for 25 years.

Anybody in this day who sticks rental gear in their mouths or on their feet deserves what they get!

How far is beach from Mismaloya bus stop? If we just want to snorkel one hour what is fair price to boat to Los Arcos. gracias

Peddler,

Sorry but I have to disagree with your post, hauling snorkeling equipment for 6 people down to PV under the current luggage restrictions makes no sense at all.

If you go with someone who is recommended to you you will have no problems. If you leave salt water on your equipment it will rot within a very short period of time so the equipment is washed with soap and rinsed in clear water if you go with a reputatble person.

Most tours these days offer individual sanitized/purified snorkels that are wrapped, that you can purchase when you board the tour. They're quite safe...they'd be out of business if they were giving people dirty snorkels and spreading diseases.

Thanks to all.

Still leaning towards hauling equipment with us.

Better safe than sorry.
