Mexican Independence Day

JennyPV posted this in the forum that I was asking questions about newbie going to PV: Just an FYI as well since nobody's mentioned it yet - you'll be in PV for Mexican Independence Day. You'll want to read up on that so you don't miss it. Takes place over two days, starting with the "grito" around 11pm on the 15th (the traditional "Viva Mexico!" cheer lead by local dignitaries) and continues through the 16th. Parties, bands, I think there's a parade or procession too.

Anyone know of details on how the events are in PV during this celebration? Are there fireworks?

I imagine PV has a pretty spectacular celebration. We were in San Jose Del Cabo last September and it;s quite the fiesta. We had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, although it wasn't our first choice. We had planned dinner at a place on the plaza, but the streets were blocked off four blocks away and one of our party can only walk very short distances. So our taxi took us to our backup.

Long story short, we had another great meal. Watched the cermonies from Mexico City on TV in the restaurant, then stepped outside for a colorful fireworks show that went on for about 15 minutes!
