Valle de Banderas or other small town

Hi, my wife and our two young kids (newborn and 2yr old) will be spending 2 weeks in the PV area in March. Planning on spending a week in Sayulita on the beach, but we're also eager to explore a small traditional town for a few days. Does anyone have a recommendation for a small town - the kind with a plaza, a few places/carts to eat at, and hotel or other place to stay? I'd assume the place would be inland - Valle de Banderas looked interesting. Any tips?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum:

Valle de Banderas is the capital of the municipality of the same name, Valle de Banderas so it´s nice bustling little town with government offices, etc., I don´t recall any hotels though. I´m sure there are a few places to stay for visiting Mexican bureaucrats and business people,., but I´m not sure it would be enough for you with two very young children.

If you´re interested, contact Elsa who is the owner of Villa Bella b&b in La Cruz. She is originally from Valle de Banderas. Her family still lives there and she has a home there still. She would know if there any hotels there and could steer you in the right direction.

If you´re interested in exploring a working town inland with a square that still has comfortable places to stay, how about Mascota? Here´s a llink to a nice place

Good luck.
