Help appreciated as tomdifferent PVR zones

Thank you in advance for your responses. We have not been to PVR in at least 10 years. Previously we were there with our children at Mismayloya and Royal Decameron in Nuevo Vallarta.

We have now been asked to attend a wedding in Sayulita in December. We have decided to take a. well needed break and take a vacation in Feb. We have booked a place in Sayulita for one week to check it out and are so undecided about where to spend the other week. It seems to have change d so much from when we were last there so long ago. There seem to be so many different zones that didn't exist 10 years ago. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

We would appreciate any advice on what would be the best place to us to spend the second week. we know that we do not like the busy party scene of downtown PVR. We enjoy a nice beach scene and lots of restaurants nearby, but more where locals might hang out rather than hip tourisy trendy

Look at Playa Los Arcos on the south side. Away from the noise of the clubs of the malecon but still close enough to walk to it during the day. Within easy walking distance to numerous restaurants. Very local feeling hotel on the beach.;

I'm sure others will add links to area maps.

The zones are still the same as 10 years ago, they just keep giving them fancier names with more tourist appeal :)

Look on a map and find Rio Cuale. That's a river that cuts thru the downtown central area. To the south of it is "Zona Romantica" or the southside where popular "Playa Los Muertos" beach is located. To the north of the river is el Centro or downtown. Sometimes these two areas are dubbed "Old Town".

Then along the ocean starting in Centro and heading north is the "Hotel Zone" (south then north). And then The Marina district back almost to the airport.

It's really easy to understand the layout with the maps below. You'll also see most of the hotels listed. One thing that has definitely changed...is that there are a lot of new places to stay.

"We enjoy a nice beach scene and lots of restaurants nearby, but more where locals might hang out rather than hip tourisy trendy"

This sounds like the Buenaventura to me. Look in North Downtown.....and you're still close enough to walk to downtown and south side restaurants.

No offense to Senorbobo but I think they might see the south side as hip touristy trendy. On the other hand, it's a decent beach and you'll find a lot of locals using that beach as well. If on the south side, you need only walk 2 or 3 blocks inland to get to where many nationals live.

Also, another thing good about the south side is you're close to the southern coast which makes for some nice afternoon rides to other local beaches and cute villages. And one more thought, Playa Los Arcos doesn't just serve US or Canadian tourists, a lot of Mexican families stay there as well.
