Getting to Rincon or Las Penitas for tianguis

Last time we went to these towns we had a car and probably won't rent one this time. While re-reading older threads it seems that you can't catch a bus to these towns from WalMart, is that correct? We are thinking of going to one of the Monday or Thursday tianguis and just looking around town but if transportation is too complicated we probably won't since we're so lazy on vacation. :-)

I'm pretty sure you have to catch the bus to Rincon at the Central Camionera terminal near the airport. Possibly the same for La Penita.

There is bus info in this thread, last post:

Another way is to catch the bus to Bucerias and change there. :)

Good info, Jenny and JR. As I recall the last time we took a bus to Bucerias they dropped us off on the main road. Do you think we just cross over to get the bus to Rincon or do we pick that up somewhere in the town of Bucerias?

Thanks, inedv, we'd rather not take a tour as we have friends up there we'll hang out with. Thanks for the info, though!

It would be simpler to take the Pacifico bus from the Central Camionera straight to La Peñiita It is about an hour´s ride and they run every half hour or so. .

If you want to take the bus to Bucerias you get off on the HIghway, find the Pacifico bus station and take one from there. You don´t cross over as you want to continue north. Also, it´s best to get off at La Peñita even if you want to go to Guayabitos. They have collectivos to take you the short distance.

It is easier to take the Pacifico bus which leaves from the main bus terminal - no change needed. I think the fare is about 110 pesos per person each way.

The La Penita tiangis on Thursday is better than the Rincon one which is on Monday- in my view anyway.

Enjoy your trip.
