Travelling with 7 month old to PV advice needed please

Hi all. My wife and I are new parents travelling in Nov for 14 days to PV. I would love any advice please. Anything from tips for flying ( like buying one of those baby hammocks that attach to food tray ) to what do you do about using a car seat in the taxis etc ? Do you bring a car seat and stroller with you or just use the Bjorn? HELP PLEASE!

Thanks!

The best travel advice tends to come from parents themselves who travel, so here is a list of some travel blogs with tips and info. Not all of them will be applicable so find pieces that work for you. Your wife should help, she may have already found some of these.

Car seats are a problem in PV because it would be a pain to lug them around town, after taking a cab. If you're only going to one place and back again, then it will work. It is a problem for sure, as it's a strange feeling getting into a car without a car seat, but people do it, as there's not much choice.

If you want a car seat from the airport to resort, there are transfer companies that will have car seats. You can also take private tours and they'll also have a car seat.

Bring a stroller that's well built, but not too huge for you to carry around. There are a lot of nice sidewalks in PV nowadays, the Malecon being one of them. And a stroller is nice for sleeping babies at restaurants, and at the pool :-)

If your child does well in a bjorn by your trip time, then by all means bring it. The only problem is it's still fairly hot in November, so you may not want it.

Where will you be staying?

Fred

I don't understand what's not right about it? Because your parents left you at home then no one is suppose to go?

I have always traveled with my children. At 3 months old my son had already been tent camping. At 3 months my granddaughter took her first plane ride. By the time she turned 1 she had 8 flights under her belt - always in her own paid seat.

We continue to travel taking the adult son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter along. At eight years old she has traveled extensively. People question why we took a 15 month old to Hawaii since she wouldn't remember it or appreciate. Maybe not but I have great memories of her learning to run, calling lemurs kitty cats, learning to love the beach, etc. etc. Why I traveled with children and continue to? We are a family, that is what our family does, and sometimes it's about me being greedy and wanting memories for my sake.

I don't see what's wrong with bringing a baby with on vacation... the risk? I guess nowadays we should put helmets and floats on a kid before letting them near a bathroom... serioisly, are babies targeted by criminals in PV or something? What am I missing? I'm sure the vacation isn't for the kid... anyways, I'm interested in the responses here because I did see fiesta Americana call in a taxi with a baby seat available for a guest. But my parents did not believe me.

My wife and I travelled to PV when our daughter was 9 months old. ( Feb) Our flight was out of Abbotsford so the flight was short and sweet. Our baby was still breast feeding so we made sure she was "hungry" at take offs and landings so the ear pop issue wasn't a factor. We didn't take a car seat and just did what our parents did when we were young, which we survived..lol. We did take a fairly large wheeled stroller which I had rigged with some make shift curtains and we walked everywhere. The airline, cabby, hotel, staff and everyone else we interacted with went out of their way to help with the baby. I am not sure she will ever remember the trip or if it enriched her life but it did provide us with great memories and hugely enriched our lives. I would consult your doctor about shots and health risks but I know our doctor felt it was a good time in a babies life to travel.
