Villa de la Selva has been around a long time but is not often mentioned on this forum. It is in Ixtapa, in the area of Las Brisas. I find it the best view of the sunset on the beach. I have been several times with my visitors and very much enjoyed it everytime. Service is attentive, the food delicious, I would say in the price range of the others you mentioned.
Not at the high end/fancy level of the ones you listed but I especially enjoyed Leo's in the pedestrian walkway about a block in between Zorro's Bar & The Pancake House.
You should try La Bocana on the main road by Playa La Ropa. Wonderful food and great service. Also, in my opinion, on Thursdays the best Pozole around!
La Cala is now closed, at least in was in January 2012....I think your first two choices are worth repeats....for lunch, if you haven't been to Carmelitas you need to go, it's located on busy street, Av. Heroico Colegio Militar, a few blocks behind the Mercado.
Coco Bahia in Peurto Mio was fabulous! Very small, but the food was outstanding and the service was great. Don't miss the melt in your mouth Filet Mignon.
I second the recommendation for Coco Bahia. Good food and good company. Also try El Agave on Nicholas Bravo. Chendo's is quite good. Fajita Queen by Don Memo's is good; Casa Vieja had excellent food and atmosphere. So many good places and so little time! :)
You are all so kind. I should have mentioned that we like an upscale restaurant one night, and a casual one the next, so these are perfect ideas for us! Too bad about La Cala ~ the sound of the water washing over the pebbles in the cove was unrivaled.
Lety's right over the footbridge from the embarcadero parking lot.
The Shrimp in Chipotle cream sauce!!
If I lived there I would weight 400 pounds by now!
Tried that dish on our last trip. . . OMG absolutely worth the trip over the footbridge.
It's the kinda food that just makes ya want to give her a hug!!
Yeah, I did! LOL
