We will be bussing from Guadalajara into Guanajauato during early March. Any suggestions for clean, somewhat quiet and easily accessible hotels in the area as I will be accompanied by two family members, each over 70 years old.

Hi, it's really all about how mobile your relatives are. Guanajuato's extremely hilly with only the area around the jardin being flat. If your relatives can't handle steep winding narrow callejones you'd probably do well to stay at Hotel Luna which is right on the jardin and in my opinion the best of the hotels directly on it. But there are wonderful other places to stay if you can handle the climbs and I'd recommend those over Hotel Luna. Check this website for recommendations but mine are Alma del Sol and El Zopilote Mojado though both require stairs and though close to 'el centro' mean navigating the wonderful but steeply slanted alleyways. Have fun. And just as an aside we know many people over 70 (a few in their 90's) who live their year-round and swear they stay young and fit BECAUSE they have to there to get around.
Wow, when you mentioned elderly, I thought you were referring to nonagenarians.
Many seniors not only function quite independently and well here in the colonial (cities') mountains, but are often community leaders.
Buen viaje.

Thanks for the reply M,
I'll have to remind my relatives to step up their game while we make this trip. They continue to insist that they are "too old to climb steep, curvy streets." They've got to move those "old bones" once in awhile.
Thank you,
Zeke
Hi,
Hotel San Diego is right on the Jardin de la Union and has an elevator.
Though El Zopilote Mojado is located on a plaza up a set of steep steps to the right of Teotro Principal (just off the Jardin de la Union), there is an alternate way to avoid the steps, though the climb is still a bit steep. There are stairs to the rooms as well as to the rooftop terrace, but no elevator.
Here is a web site of most of Guanajuato's hotels:
