1) What terminal?

2) "at a savings", compared to where?

3) When is "middle of the night"?

The duty free stores in both terminals are open 0600-2300h only, so it will depend on your arrival/departure. If both your flights are international you will have to go through immigration, security and customs. Ditto if you are transferring from a national to international flight. I don't find duty free liquor at MEX especially good value, but it might depend on what you are looking for.

thanks for information, arrive 4:30 am Aeromexico terminal and don't leave for PV until 7:45 am. So if the store opens at 6:00, we are in good shape. I don't find liquor cheap in PV, duty free is still a good buy especially when we buy really good tequila.

Can you buy duty free if taking a national flight? Just a thought.

I believe you can buy "duty free on arrival" (from an international flight).

Duty Free won't be open when the OP arrives, so he should probably hang on to the boarding pass for the international flight to present when purchasing prior to his domestic departure.

We found a really good deal on don Julio tequila, I think it was 30 a bottle, buy 2 get one free. In terminal 1, there's a nice lounge area where they offer tastings.
