Honeymoon begins tonight

We are taking off tonight to Mexico City. How do we book these awesome tours? We want to do an archaeologic tour, we want to visit el temple mayor, and other historic sites. The hotel we are staying at is the Hampton Inn on El Centro Historico. Beautiful building. We want to visit the frida kalo house and museums. We just don't know if these tours need to be booked before we get there or if we show up and pay. Also, where do we go to exchange currency? We also want to visit the floating gardens (those cool boats). We tried doing an itinerary, but we don't know if some of the websites we found are legitimate or not. Our approach to this is going to the from desk when we check in and go from there. Are there any suggestions or recommendations? Thank you! :) we are so excited!!!

You will love Mexico City. Your hotel can arrange tours for you, most hotels offer them. You don't say how many days you are there. I would say you don't really need a tour to see the sights of the Centro. The Catedral, the National Palace, and Templo Mayor are all right near your hotel. Most people also spend a day at Chapultepec Park, the Castle, and the Museo de Antropologica--no tour needed there either. Many people take the Turibus to get from site to site, although we stuck to the Metro. Have fun!

Hello, so nice you decided to come here!

As for booking tours you don't really need to do tours on the sites you mention, just show up at the places and pay your ticket. There are guides once there that you can hire. (just remember museums are closed on monday, you still staying 9 days?, if so, you can go to Teotihuacan on a monday, for that one you could use a tour or just take a bus.)

For currency you can exchange at the airport, or use casas de cambio (there are a lot) or just ATM (use the ones attached to the banks).

Congrats and have a nice time here!

A few other suggestions in your neighborhood would be a Cafe Tacuba where Diego and Frida had their wedding party, Cafe el Popular, and a nighttime drink at the rooftop bar at the Hotel Majestic.
