We are heading to Secrets at Maroma Beach on the Riviera south of Cancun in a few weeks. I have read lots of reviews, but no one has talked about snorkeling from the resort . Is there anything to see there? Is it worth bringing snorkeling gear?

There is not good snorkeling to be had at SMB. You will have to go off site. SMB's beach entry is sandy with no rocks, coral or vegetation which means a gorgeous beach with beautiful water, but also means no snorkeling. There are a lot of options close to you though. Take a cab to Puerto Morelos and do a snorkel tour from there. The reef off shore is a protected National Park. You could also go down the beach to a man I believe his name is Captain Memo???? (Could be wrong on that so hopefully someone else has more info).

We took a snorkel tour with a company in Puerto Morelos called Wet Set Diving on our last trip. Very affordable and the snorkeling was so pretty.
