Earthquakes?

My fiancé and I are looking at alternate honeymoon spots since the Caribbean is having some trouble. Is cancun or riviera maya affected by the earthquake?? Is it safe to go there? Any information would be helpful! Thank you so much!

Today's quake was near Mexico City. Hundreds of miles from Cancun.

The quake two weeks ago was centered in Chiapas, also far from Cancun, yet it was felt in Cancun and Merida. As far as I know, the Mexico City quake was not felt here. Many factors involved in how far the tremors are felt, I suppose.

Earthquakes do not normally occur in the Yucatan Península. There are no known Tetonic plates nor fault lines that I am aware of. We have the occasional Hurricane to keep an eye on. We don't need two!
