I can't recall seeing any food trucks, but there are plenty of taco stands and smaller locals-type restaurants with fantastic food.

There are defintely food trucks, how many I do not know. But we have one come by Portofino where I Live daily and serve the employees breakfast and lunch.

I've not seen food 'trucks' per se but in the HZ folks come around to where the workers are and sell food out the trunk of their cars. And, it smells so good!

For some great local vendor food, go to Parque Las Palapas especially on weekend nights. For the location, look for the GREEN icon on this map:

I've never seen a food truck here, just lots of food stands on the streets (mainly tacos, some tortas, etc)

Well, in that case, you can find delicious food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as snack time!

Are those that are selling food to the workers able to sell to vacationers as well? I would love to try some of their foods, but I don't want them to run out of food if the workers are relying on that for their meals.

I always spend time eating at the places right on Parque Las Palapas. There's probably 8-10 that are usually open with great local food. You can get a couple empanadas and a fanta for like $3. Or whatever you like. This area is easy to reach, take the bus into the city, go around the big roundabout with seashells in it, that's Tulum Ave -- go a few blocks further, then get off, walk a few blocks west to the park. Later at night there's usually carts with churros, marquesitas, etc. Good people watching as well. Don't stay too late -- might get sketchy after 10:00 p.m.
