Veracruz is good. Really, I know nothing about the seafood in Cancun. But I do head for Veracruz when I want to enjoy affordable shrimp or other seafood.

2. Re: Seafood

Since just about every place I've ever dined has seafood on the menu and I've very rarely had a bad dining experience. I'm going to go with pretty much anywhere. But here are some places where I've had a seafood dish that I really have enjoyed. In no particular order

Lorenzillos - lobsters everywhere, but I like their scallop and fish dishes

Mextreme - tableside shrimp preparations

la Parilla - chef's special (and garlic shrimp appetizer ... if you really like garlic)

La Destilería - tamarind shrimp (but this place can get really loud)

Puerto Madero - Surf n Turf, Shrimp Puerto - pricey but a good place for a really nice dinner out.

Casa Tequila - pescado tequila (it's just a nice lil grilled talapia)

Captain's Cove - pescado tikin xic

these are just a few that come to mind at the moment

Take a look at Restaurante Rio Nizuc. It is located at the south end of Isla Cancun on the airport side of the bridge.

They are open until dark with great seafood at very decent prices; a real feet in the sand kind of place!

7. Re: Seafood

Dream days is correct the seafood isn't local. Oddly an area that is surrounded by water seafood isn't a main staple. The places mentioned are good, but is isn't exactly coming from a local fishing fleet.

I do believe that Rio Nizuc has fresh local fish.
