Thomson flight from Birmingham to Manchester

Hi everyone

Last year when we travelled to Cancun our flight from Birmingham flew to Manchester to refuel. Could anyone please advise if this is still the case? I am hoping now it is the Dreamliner this no longer happens as it added a lot of extra time to our flight.

Many thanks in advance

Dreamliner does not start on the BHX - CUN route until July 19th. At present the 767-300ER that is flying the route does not have a stop over at MAN. The Dreamliner when it does start flying the route will not have a refuel stop in MAN.

Strange place to stop considering the distance, can fly direct from glasgow without refuelling. Maybe has something to do with length of runway that's our problem in aberdeen.

It's due to the length of the runway and how much fuel they can carry on a smaller runway. Happened to us the first time we went, such a pain as it takes quite a long time and as it was April we were freezing in the plane because they have to have all the doors open! There were quite a lot of unhappy passengers because we hadn't even been told that would happen!!

There is no problem with length of the runway anymore as BHX runway had a £40m runway extension and was operational on May 1st this year.......so no more fuel stops needed at MAN.

Hi Leigh

That sounds exactly the same as what happened to us last year - we didn't know anything about it until we were boarding so not very happy! Just wanted to avoid the same happening again.

Thanks again Angie
