Its normally like carnivals everywhere and ends on Fat Tuesday. This year thats a bit later than usual. March 8. Nothing confirmed yet and they have been known to change for various reasons.

I just looked at the dates for the largest carnival in the area, in Merida, and they show March 2-9. Cozumel will likely be the same.

I posted Carnaval week as March 2-9 on my calendar. The dates are usually announced in August or September. There's no reason I can imagine to move the week away from Fat Tuesday as the city usually only does that when Carnaval and Feb. elections coincide. That's not the case in 2011. Carnaval is a hugely important event to the people of Cozumel, so even if there was a natural disaster or something, the show must go on in one form or another!
