recommend beach front drinking spot close to downtown

We will be in Cozumel from 8AM to 10PM on Carnival Liberty. We will be doing the tour to the ruins and will have some free time when we get back. Not interested in doing any all inclusive or anything to far from downtown/ship, but would like to find a place on the beach to kick it for a while and have some drinks before going back to the ship. Can anyone recommend something?

The only reason we might be willing to go the distance is if there is a great spot to watch the sunset before going back to the ship.

Thanks in advance.

I recommend the beach club south of town by the light house. It's yellow and has 2 for 1 drinks. Can't remember the name right now. anyone? Take lots of bug spray to the ruins and hire a guide for a few bucks (plus tip) to get the most out of the experience.

I think there is a Carlos & Charlies right next to the pier where Carnival docks. Handy if you want to be near the ship.

Have Fun!

That's not beach front though and expensive and touristy...but some cruisers like it.

Not sure if you are doing the Ship excursion to the ruins, but if it was me, you can save some money by hiring a cab to take you to the ruins, then have him take you to Mezcalitos Restaurant and Bar on the East side of the island. Same road as the Ruins, and they have the best fish tacos, strongest drinks, and most relaxing beach side hammocks on the island.

You will have the whole beach to yourselves, and believe me, it will beat any of those other cruisers stories when you get back and compare. Have the cab driver take you back to a beach side bar to see the sunset on the west side of the island. (same side as the cruise ships) Maybe the Money Bar would be a good choice if you wanted some two for ones, and excellent shore snorkeling before heading back to the ship.

There is also the Blue Angel restaurant/bar that would be a good choice to see the sunset with a bucket of Coronas and guac at your side. Both not that far from the pier your ship will be coming in to. Not sure, but they might even let you use the pool and hammocks at Blue Angel hotel next door?

Just do it!

Enjoy

froglegs55 - LaHach? either that or next door La Palapita would be a nice place to end the day.

No, it's neither of those two...but we love both. This place is closer to town...it's yellow.

I think the yellow place you are speaking of is Tia Jose. It opened up earlier this year and is near the lighthouse.

They had two guitar players the afternoon we were there. One was Adrian's guy from Especias, Abraham. We enjoyed our sunset there.
