is it a norte?

we leave in 2 days for cozumel, and even though it looks like the next week will be sunny, the winds pick up on monday and come from the north, not northeast, and one day northwest; but they are still calling for sunny with highs around74-75 and lows in the 60's. so is this still considered a norte? it looks like the winds may keep me from snorkeling--any suggestions where to go on the real windy days to still be able to snorkel in clam water? thanks, grams98

My suggestion is Punta Sur.

Nortes mean the east side has very, very flat water. I snorkeled the outer edges of Punta Morena (the other side of the rocks) and saw a lot of really nice fan coral and there were a couple of snorkeling type swim throughs.

Like mlsf said the east side is a great place to go when it is blowing intown. The picture above was taken on the 27th or 28th of december when a small north blew into town. As you can see the water in the background is super calm and perfect for swimming. We used the new palapas just south of Chen Rio....Great free spot and some shade if you need it.
