The only true sign of the end of the World I have seen is the fact that American Airlines, for the first time ever, actually let us book round trip air using mileage to Cozumel this spring.
Interesting stuff there, Robert. Gracias!Edited: 30 January 2012, 19:46
I think what happened with AA may be a sign. Or a sign that things arent so good while in bankruptcy.
I think government officials believe no truth in the Mayan end of the world theory but, why not cash in on anything you can use to bring in the tourists.
So, really no reason to buy return airfare then, is there?
One-way ticket makes sense if the world's about to end.
Thats a good point. Of course, the money you save will be gone also when the world ends. Unless you really can take it with you!
The Mayan "end of the world" predictions are oversensationalized media hype. The fact is, the Mayans didn't predict the end of ANYTHING. Their calendar, just like every other calendar, is cyclical. One cycle ends, the next one begins.
The earth is flat. It's not a sphere.
I agree, its hype. But Mexican tourism officials are taking advantage of the hype to boost tourism.
Lots of folks gambling on making lots of money to use in the "afterlife".
Will there be anything special with Carnival to do with the 2012 prophecy?? Also I read somewhere that they will be recreating a canoe or some kind of long boat trip from Playa to Coz. Do you know anything about this or when it will go on?? I would love to see that ceremony.
There is info about the yearly canoe event on the "Cozumel4You" webletter..........not sure if it was the most recent one or the one before that.
