Who is "Mr. Carnaval"?

We attend Carnaval on the island almost every year. Every single parade is lead by the guy we just call "Mr. Carnaval". If you live on the island, you know who I mean. He has the most fantastical costumes -- and sometimes has that oiled down hulk in a thong as his bodyguard! What is the story of Mr. C? Who is he? Does he live on the island? What does he do when he's not leading the parade -- in the off season? Why is he always the Master of Ceremonies? Does he have this title for life?

Enquiring minds want to know. ;)

This is him:

O.K.....we have a name, but what else do you know about him? As asked above:

-does he live on the island?

-why is he ALWAYS the mc?

-what does he do other than lead Carnaval?

-what's his back story?

-are the costumes provided for him or does he do them on his own?

There must be a bio out there somewhere. And...yes....always fun to watch.
