Best Dive Shop?

Can someone recommend a good Dive Shop to use while in Cozumel in June?

Thanks!

There is no "Best" dive shop, but there may be one that works best for you. It depends on what you want.......large boat, smaller boat, large group of people or small, do you need to feel pampered with food, lunch or is fruit and water fine, bathroom on the boat, surface as a group or dive your computer.....lots of options Fortunately, the dive shops in Cozumel are plentiful and you should be able to find one that you like pretty easy.

That said, we've been using Dive With Martin for years Small boats with 8 or less divers We get picked up early, about 7:20 at our hotel and are almost always back before noon unless we are diving Maricaibo or across the channel. They are what most would call a "no frills" op, with fruit and water provided, but that's all we need. Sometimes the SI is done on shore, sometimes on the boat. We've never used it, but they do provide free rental gear.

Most of the dive shops in Cozumel have been around awhile and they wouldn't last if they weren't good. Years ago when we first started going to Cozumel we used Aqua Safari and Dive Paradise. They were fine, but we prefer the smaller groups and smaller fast boats. Dive Paradise offers small fast boats, but used to you had to pay extra for them. I don't know if they still do because it's been a long time since we used them.

Aldora, Blue Xt Sea and others all get good reviews. Email or call the shops and see if they are what you are looking for.

Have a GREAT trip! We'll be there in a couple of weeks :)

Jim, Are you staying in CZM or visiting from a cruise ship? If staying on the island, it would help us to know where. You wouldn't want a dive op from the south end of the island, if you're staying on the north for example -- or vice versa. If your are from a ship, some dive shops don't pick up cruise passengers...others do. Can you give us a bit more information?

I've been diving with Scuba Du for years. They're located at Presidente, and have been in business for 22 years! They have shaded boats and they only have about 6 people or less per DM. I use Hector as my private dive master. They are very professional and safe. Check them out on www.ScubaDu.com

There a lots of good ones we use Blue Project. I would however avoid the in house dive op. Big corporate outfit.

For pickup at Coz Palace, look at Aqua Safari's fast boat Belinda. She's a wonderful dive boat with excellent DM's and pickup is easy for you as she starts out from downtown every day at 8am. Sadly, Aqua Safari is no longer Palace's house op as it used to be...

Belinda fills fast, so advance reservation is the way to go. See www.aquasafari.com
