First time to Cozumel - what to do?

We have been to PDC many times but this will be our first visit to Cozumel. We are coming over on the ferry and want to rent a car and visit some of the places of interest for about a half day.

We don't scuba and are not wanting to snorkle while there, just hit some of the interesting sights and maybe stop for lunch somewhere with a view of the beach.

Any suggestions??? How do we get a map of Cozumel?

Thanks!

Mapchick maps are great, but for half a day you really don't need it. since your renting a car head out on main road and drive around the island. thereis only one road around the island and numerous places to stop and relax. I recomend the shrimp quesadillas at mescalitos. Also bring bug spray. Be careful of pier rental companies . enjoy

Good advice to avoid the pier car rental companies. Also avoid vendors on the Playa del Carmen pier trying to sell Cozumel tours or car rentals. They will tell you things will cost more if you wait to arrive in Cozumel. Not true.

You might enjoy the museum or Discover Mexico. Best lunch with a view is at Blue Angel Restaurant. Why just half a day? You might not get there again...may as well really explore and enjoy with no rushing.

And it's a short walk to Isis from the ferry.

If you have wheels go and see the east side of the island. It's beautiful. Once you are out of town there is hardly any traffic, and there's basically one road. But watch out for the construction. We were there in July and now and then the new road work creeps up on you without warning. But while you are over there who wants to drive more than 20 mph anyway?

I disagree about the Can-Do map (often referred to as Mapchick maps after the publisher's email address and forum handles). It's a nice, detailed map that is well worth studying ahead of time not only to see where things are but also to see what's there in the first place.

I agree. Even if you are only going for a day or half day the Mapchick map is a very worthwhile tool...and inexpensive. It will make the most of your time spent on Cozumel. Shows EVERYTHING!
