Hello, myself and a couple of friends will be travelling to Coz for the 1st time in Feb. We are really excited to eat the local cusine and was looking for some recmmendations? Location is not an issue as we love to explore, we are all big guac and tequila fans. so any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Read the restaurant review section here on TA....all you need or want to know is there. We've all posted our favorites there. You can also put the words "restaurants, food, dining, eating" in the search box above and get tons of previous posts.

Casa Mission has excellent food, wonderful atmosphere & very reasonable prices. We go there every year when in Cozumel. It is in town & sure you will enjoy it.

If by "local cuisine" you "mean food indigenous to the region", check out Hanal-Ki on Benito Juarez across from the fire station. They have panuchos, salbutes, relleno negro, cochinita pibil, etc. You'll love it.

If you mean restaurants where locals go with their families, consider La Candela, particularly their off-menu daily specials.

For tacos, you can't go wrong with El Pique.

If you promise not to complain that it's located at a site that features a rental house, I can send you a link to several pages' worth of restaurant guide.

Casa Mission for a really nice dinner. Impecable service and great food. Coconut shrimp a must. Also La Perlita for great fish - they cook what they catch.

I second Casa Denis. Their food is great and the staff are wonderful. The location is fabulous for people watching or watching the little black chihuahua, Chiquita, across the street policing her patch.

The margaritas need two hands to lift and pack a punch.

It's our favourite place on the island.

When in February? Carnaval is in Febrero. If during Carnaval you will get some great local fare from the festival vendors.

Hanal Ki - si, good, local, slow...but it is made to order - BoNuS!

El Pique-always a favorite

Blue Truck Tacos-south of town, as you are headed south, take a left at the last stoplight, he is parked on the left and yes, it's a blue pickup

-Another place I have yet to try is a little further south, on the left, in a parking lot, where you see a Red Coca Cola tent. Mi amiga (MLAF) says they have the BEST tacos.

La Jarocha - on 65 y 11, 12pm-2am

La Perlita-they have Pez Leon 2x1 on Thursdays, so nummy!

La Choza-best ChUnKy guac EvAH!
